Have Lunch on Me!
Cooking is one thing that I really enjoy. It is relaxing for me and it allows me to be creative. Today I invite you to have lunch on me. Our menu is as follows:
Fresh Garden Salad
Ingredients: Mixed baby greens and spinach, tomatoes, purple onions, cucumbers, and cabbage shreds. The dressing is a home made vinaigrette, made with red wine vinegar, garlic and herb seasoning, extra virgin olive oil, and lemon juice.
Steamed Asparagus with herbs and lemon.
Wild Rice
Baked Alaskan Salmon with garlic and herb seasoning, sliced onions, and a lemon slice on top.
I don't always share my recipes, but this is simple, easy to make and highly nutritious. It makes a great lunch or a romantic dinner served with a chardonay or a white merlot.
Enjoy and tell me what you think! I really enjoyed my lunch!

Unlikely Messenger
I have the opportunity to meet and talk with a lot of different people. Most of them are blue collar hard working people who love what they do. While taking a break this afternoon, I just happened to be close enough to hear two gentlemen engulfed in a conversation. If you look at the outward appearance of the two, you may think the conversation would be different. These two men were so excited that I pretended as if I was on the phone to continue listening to them. It is one thing to see a man in church, it is entirely different to see the church in a man. I thank God for every black single man that loves the Lord and is taking care of his business. Yes, there are still some good men out there, stop looking for them ladies and start listening for them. He will always be the unlikely messenger.

Reflections
Remember when we were children how we looked forward to Easter. In times past Easter somehow came right round spring break which made it more fun. But today I want to share with you a few things I remember about Easter. Resurrection Sunday as my Big Mama would call it. Remembering that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ made it possible for us to have salvation. He was crucified, then buried, and rose again on the third day which is Easter Sunday. We always had an Easter play at church. We had to memorize speeches to say in front of the congregation and we always had a new dress or a new suit to wear. We always went to Big Mama's for dinner and Daddy would hide eggs for us hunt, following the egg hunt after church. I know today he enjoyed watching us hunt eggs as much as we liked looking for them. These are a few things I remember about Easter as a child.
Today we will spend time with our family, friends, and acquaintances. Talking about traditions that we have shared and new traditions we have started. Remember Christ today, reflect on your blessings. God Bless us all!

Perception vs. Reality
Is what you see everyday real or is it a perception of what you want to be real? Can you handle the truth! I think you can, but when faced with reality vs. perception, we all too often want to accept the perception. We have ideas of our world, but are they really our ideas or something some one else has decided for us. We listen to other people, we ask for advice, and we listen to unsolicited advice with the perception that they know what is best for us. It's time to take a look at the man/woman who has so much to say about who you are. Are they who they say they are? It's your life, take a hold of it! Live, love, laugh...it will all be worth the "no regrets."

Introduction
Hello and welcome to my blog.
Just wanted to start by saying hello to each of you. This whole blog thing is new to me. I have read a few and responded to comments on some. Since it is my dream to become a published writer, I decided why not start a blog and see what happens. Shelle's Hot Topics is just that, different topics to discuss anything from family dynamics to food and just about anything else that is worthy of discussing. See I want to develop a relationship with you and talk about topics that are interesting to you. I am not guru of all things, but if we develop a network of people, we can become a guru of things that are important to us. So don't be shy, let me know what's on your mind and see what it develops into. Who knows this could be the start of a great blog relationship. Hope to hear from you soon.
Shelle
